Incredible!!!

My mom prepared this salad on the 14th of April. We washed and dried all the ingredients really well, then chopped the lettuce, carrots, and red cabbage.
This salad contains.............
6 heads of romaine lettuce
2 heads of iceberg
4 lbs. of carrots
1 head of red cabbage
Today the salad looks the same!!!!!!!! Not a brown spot on it!! The key is drying the ingredients well and by making sure once you have taken out what you want to eat, putting it right back in the fridge. We bought the containers at Bed Bath and Beyond. They have a blue rubber seal on the lid that locks out the air.
This salad will keep fresh for 2-3 weeks!!
Now that is a time saver this summer!!

Work Day!!

With the warm weather finally arriving we had a much needed work day on the farm. Our house is for sale and we are continuing to work on getting it finished. Scott spent the day working on the cellar stairs!!

Penne kept a close eye on the chickens. Too close at times and that is why she is on the rope!!

Acelia, David and I cleaned out the goat pens, and they were pretty happy about it!

Asa helped lighten Acelia's load !

Acelia spent some time with "Doodle" her favorite chicken.

Asa was ready to herd the goats. It is pretty neat to see her start herding at such a young age.

The dogs got some good exercise!

Dean watched the burn pile with Scott .

Our "Girls" were all a flutter with the activity in their hen house. We cleaned out their nesting boxes and put fresh hay down for them.

The guard dog!

I can't believe we didn't have any marshmallows!! :0

We had a beautiful day, everyone worked pretty hard, and we got alot done!!

Books

I was just introduced to Francine Rivers, the book "Warrior" is about Caleb's life. I love it!! She has several of these, if you like historical fiction you have to check her series of men and women of the Bible out! This one is great!!
