Ever since I taught my daughter about the presidents she has been obsessed with Washington and Lincoln. She has read several books about them, and watched several biography's too. For her birthday she wants a portrait of both and a framed copy of the Constitution.
So when we went shopping last weekend , she found this mask and I bought it for her. This is a post in honor of my daughter and President Lincoln.

The Gettysburg Address

November 19, 1863

Fourscore and seven years ago

our fathers brought forth upon this continent

a new nation,

conceived in liberty,

and dedicated to the proposition

that all men are created equal

Now we are engaged in a great civil war,

testing whether that nation,

or any other nation so conceived and so dedicated,

can long endure.

We are met on a great battlefield

of that war.

We have comet to didicate a portion of that field

as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives

that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper

that we should do this. But in a larger sense

Sno...Sn....Snooo.. I still can't say it!

Well I am finally getting around to posting the snow pictures. This was our first snow of the season. It didn't stick around too long and there wasn't enough to make a snowman, but was still technically our first snow. (Don't ask what people around here thought of it) I thought it was pretty and didn't mind it, however I knew it wasn't going to stick around. You have to understand people here like snow and think it is pretty, and even like to play in it, but when you get 2 feet in one storm, and spend your whole day plowing and shoveling only to do it again in two more days.............well for us it seems like the snow just left! :)






This is the end of the day shot. The color of the sky was beautiful and the air was very still. It was beautiful.

The next day the only remains of the snow was on the mountains. I enjoyed enjoying it from afar :)

Website!


It seems that I haven't had much time to blog or visit my blogging friends lately. I have been right out straight working on a project for 4 Arrows Farm. We are going to be launching a new website hopefully by the weekend. I am really excited about the project, and I can't wait to get the products out there. When everything is up and ready to go, I will post the information.



So for now keep "Walking on Sunshine", I won't be walking today due to the wild winds, rain, and sno...sn....sno........I'm sorry I just can't seem to say it, not in October! Hopefully it will vanish as quickly as it comes! Thank goodness we don't live further North where 4" is forecast!

Look Out!!

It was noon time and with two teenage boys in the house (and one on the verge of becoming a teenager!) when lunch time rolls around they are hungry. If there isn't something in the works at 11:30 am chaos breaks out! Well, I can't remember where I was.....I think I ran to town on an errand, I wasn't back by 11:30 and the boys started tearing apart the cabinets, and the fridge looking for something for lunch. This is the work of a 16 year old!!!








For those of you actually thinking of making this........It is unbelievably GOOD! I have to mention this step though.... Notice that he is putting cheese on the outside of the tortilla after he folded the side over? Well I was told that if you do this it seals the sides together and holds all the contents into place. (I think he is a genius)



This is important too....spread plenty of butter on the outside of the tortilla!




Fry in frying pan.......folded side down first!





Till cheese is melted and tortilla is crispy!!



I'm leaving the house more often :)

Walking on Sunshine update!

I have been so busy lately that I haven't had time to get on the Internet. Things are slowing down a bit and getting back to normal so hopefully I will have more time to post and visit my blog friends:)
I'm still walking ( when its not raining of course). I missed Tuesday for a sewing lesson. Sunday I was gone all day, so I didn't walk . I am averaging about 2 miles a day.

I would like to continue to walk after the 21 days is over. We will see how the weather holds out. I am not crazy about walking in the cold.

The Pig Scramble!

Well we were due for some excitement on the farm this week!

We noticed this little pig out of his pen heading for the food plot! Of course when one sneaks out they all follow!

Of course the boys jumped at the opportunity to wrangle them.






They tried several different things to get this one back into the pen but she was stubborn. A crowd started to gather over in the corner to see what all the fuss was about :)



Timothy finally convinced her to jump over the fence!


So ends the excitement on the farm.

I love books and have been waiting to incorporate one with a giveaway so here it is.....
I have been reading this book and I am almost done it! I was on chapter 4 when I ordered two more one to give to family and the other to give away on my blog.

Walking on Sunshine

Ok, Day 1 and I walked 2 miles.

For those of you reading my blog wondering: "What is she talking about?"

I am participating in Mrs. H's Walking on Sunshine. We are walking

for 21 days and hopefully will develop a

great habit.!

Weekend catch up




We had a great weekend! I stayed home Saturday and cleaned while the guys worked in our cellar finishing the "man room" , where they will be tying flies, reloading, and doing some woodworking.

I made and apple pie (that turned out great), and some brownies (that didn't turn out well because I used egg replacer)! We had a fire going all day which was nice, because it was overcast and windy. Very cold!!


Timothy asked me to take some pictures of Penne in the field, in the afternoon, and while doing so she pointed out one of our runaway pheasants!

We have an hour and a half drive to church on Sunday and these pictures are just some of the scenery.

Family Outing

We packed a lunch and took off for an all day field trip into the wilderness. It was a beautiful day with a few showers. We had a great time. (Even though we lost the brakes on our truck, drove back to town, then headed for home, and ended up in our van!)


Scott was the first to spot the partridge, but you know how it is when someone else sees something and you don't! He was the only one that could see it! The rest of the kids and I looked, and looked, but just couldn't see it! So, no bird shot here!

You all know what this is right? Yes, its that creature that screams throughout the night and holds me up in a tree stand! The coyote!

Why can't I seem to escape these things? They are showing up everywhere I go!


So I kicked my protector and my first born out of the truck to go kill it! They didn't get it!

Penne did such a good job! This is her first experience with these birds.

We saw a beaver dam and a Blue Heron on our way out of the woods.
No moose though. Considering the start to our day we all had a good time.
We ended up at a Chinese restaurant, can you end the day any better!
