Father son excursion

TJ will be heading off for college at the end of the month.  So before he takes off Scott and TJ planned one last hoorah!
The 100 mile wilderness hike!!
Not my cup of tea, but hey, they were excited and they've been talking about it for two years!
So I woke up early yesterday morning, made my coffee, watched them gather a weeks worth of supplies, and then drove them to the trail!

I heard from them yesterday afternoon and they completed 14 miles.  Scott twisted his knee, but stopped and iced it in some streams.  I just got a call this morning from Scott and his knee is not hurting at all, but he is babying it just to be safe!  All is well with them and they are having fun!

Scientific Fact

It is a proven fact that after a bad snow storm children get unruly and wild, and start hurling themselves off furniture and jumping around wildly :) At least that's what happens at our house!! :)
Not really, we have just been cooped up too long due to below zero temp's and blustery conditions!! (and I like to play with my camera alot):)

Scott says it's time to move south.

David jumped from the catwalk!!!!

Just kidding!!! We're not that crazy!!

A New Adventure

Well I'm back. I had to take a short blogging break due to several different things....one being I was ready to jump into the political arena and discuss the direction the country is taking, but I was afraid my keyboard would burst into flames due to all I had to say, and I would no longer have the use of my computer.....two we are embarking on a new adventure..................this.........

Horse back lessons started a week ago, Acelia's 10th birthday was yesterday, and she had her second lesson. She would like to ride English style and eventually show. She is taking lessons with her three other cousins and her brother.

I think she is going to love this....she smiles from ear to ear while taking her lesson.

Here was the high point of yesterdays lesson! I have also been very busy with my camera. I have been going to some of the games to support my niece and take pictures for her. Their team went to state finals last Saturday and I went with my camera. Unfortunately they lost a very well played game that went into overtime. It was disappointing for the girls, but they did a great job and played hard. The weather was misty and the field slippery, so that worked against them. Maybe next year!

My Sister-in-Law

It was a beautiful fall day a few days ago, so we went to visit my Sister-in-Law. She amazes me! She can grow anything, and I mean anything, in any type of soil. With the cold weather here, there isn't too much left in bloom (not at my house anyway:) But being at my Sister in Laws, I knew I could find some pretty flowers to take pictures of.

I don't know what type of flower this is. I'd call it a black eyed susan. Looks something like a daisy though.

I don't know what this is either! :) I can hear her now, frustrated, reading this post and yelling the names! :)

A yellow daisy?

This is beautiful and delicate, but I don't know this one either. Now, remember at the top of this post when I said she could grow anything anywhere? Well, I wasn't kidding!! Take a look at their chimney!

I wish I had her green thumb:)

Happy Birthday to me!!

Ok, its not my birthday! I feel like it is though. My husband surprised me Saturday with news that I was getting a new camera. Sunday we went shopping, and I got a Nikon D40!! Now I can show off great pictures like.................

These fall feathers I found hanging on a tree...

The turkey vulture that comes every day and wants to eat my chickens and little dogs...

How fast this little bullet can run when a wolf is chasing her......:)

How happy Penne is that I got a new camera........

How busy the pigs have been......

How big the turkeys are.......

The view off my front porch yesterday morning......

and my cowboy.......

Thank you for looking at my photos. I only took 500 yesterday :) Because of my Internet service (dial up) I was wondering if someone out there could let me know if these pictures are clear. I have to resize them for the web, and the picture on my computer looks distorted and grainy when I'm done.
Thanks! :)
