Daily detox

As part of our eating plan, we drink carrot/parsley juice almost everyday.  

A little of this and a little of that.....

I am becoming more and more confident and comfortable with my embroidery stitches!

I am really loving this project! I feel like I will really be able to tackle 

this one!

I made my first batch of lacto-fermented pickles! Cukes and dill straight from my garden!

I also made my first batch of whey and homemade cream cheese! Strawberry cream cheese sweetened with maple syrup!

I froze two quarts of broccoli out of my garden!

I made a second batch of Zucchini soup and served it with garlic crostini and brie! Yummy!!

I just received my Bulk Herb Store order today and my new books came.  

I can't wait to dig in!!

Grow baby grow!!!

I'm getting all impatient and down in the mouth about my garden...

I do it every year.....

"I won't have enough".....

"It won't be fully grown in time".....

"It's not growing!!!"....

etc...etc...

I don't know why I do this, because every year I have way more than enough, and it is all grown

in time for harvest, and I look back and say "Cool it Kerri, don't act like this next year"...."See

everything worked out, and your shelves and freezer are full!"

My garden is one of Gods tools to teach me patience and to trust in him.

I am doing better than I did last year, I know that!!

I also know I have a lot of improving to do in the area of patience and trust!

I am absolutely in love with their color!  The outside is a deep Red/Purple

and the inside is a vibrant orange and yellow with the streaks of 

red that bleed through into the orange when you cut them.....

They are going to be in my heirloom garden every year!

The Medicine Cabinet

Bulk Herb Store is having a sale on some great herbs, teas, and books!  I can't wait to

get my order!  In the past I have ordered their Cough Tea, Beautiful Hair (dark), Rise and Shine tea (amazing!!) and several other items!  Their tea is so fresh and taste amazing!! Pardon me......

Pardon me while I ramble on and on and on about my garden and vegetables like they are child in my home......The truth is, I could talk gardening and cooking all day until my voice was cracking.

These are my Cosmic Purple carrots and YES!!!! I am VERY excited about them! They are not a typical carrot.  They have a sweet/spicy taste to them....I can not wait to eat them!

These things are giving me fits!!!!!!!! They are my ever bearing strawberries with attitude. I think I pulled 6 berries off of 40 plants last year.  This is their last year to shape up or its the compost bin!!

This....this.....is the massive mountain that awaits my shoulder.  The area to the right is all tilled (THANK YOU TIMOTHY!!! (Arrow#2)  It taunts me every time I step off my front porch, or enter my garden to check on the carrots (to the left in the raised bed), lettuce (way over on the left next to the fence) or cut asparagus (way over on the right)  My shoulder aches just looking at that!! Anyway, I need to rake out all the sod and haul that away.  Scott has borrowed a tiller today, so we are chewing this garden up and spitting it out!!  Ready to plant next week! It's going to be so "posh".   I really have no idea what posh means but Jamie Oliver says it all the time, so I am to, because I love English!!

Hurray for Onions!! Those feathered beast have left them alone long enough to grow another inch or two!  I am going to add a little more loam/manure to them to keep the little onions under ground.  I want them nice and big!  I have plans for you little fellas!  Ok Cheri-o, tut tut, and all that sot a thing!  Meet ya back here in a couple of days!

This is my smaller garden off to the south side of the house.  My mother and I spent a couple hours here yesterday and put the plants in.  It feels so good to have this done!  From left to right.......the first three rows are Amish Paste tomatoes, 18 in each row.  Next row is fava beans (two smaller rows side by side so they will support each other),  broccoli, and King North red peppers finish out that row.  Next two rows are broccoli, and the last row we could only fit 1/2 of the cabbage.  The other half will have to go into the big garden.  Now that the garden is in I can work here and there picking up the rocks on the outside of the garden, mowing, and weed whacking.  Pretty it up a bit! 

Growing..

I took these a while ago, when the strawberries were blossoming.

I now have about bunch of strawberries coming!

My grape vines are doing really well with lots of new growth...

The chickens are finally leaving my raspberries alone! 

The onions have doubled in size since I took this photo! 

I need to mulch them now with some manure.

Cover them up a little so they can get nice and big.

My tiny white lilac tree put out a few blossoms and boy did they smell

My hanging baskets are looking really good.  

Currently we are waiting for 50 baby chicks!

I'm still tilling and raking and planting a little here and there!

I planted my potatoes yesterday and carrots the day before. 

Heavy rain and thunderstorms are happening today so planting gets put off for another day!
