My show and tell today consist of my Great, Great, Grandmothers wedding certificate, and my Great, Great Grandmothers Bible and my Grandmothers Bible.

This is the Bible on the Left. The picture didn't come out very well but the pages are full of notes from D.L. Moody in Chicago. I wonder if she visited there where he preached or maybe even lived there?
This is from Grandmas Bible (the one on the right) No one looked through this Bible before they gave it to me and I found some very cherished treasures. This is a book mark that has the Lords Prayer on it, and she wrote on the back: "This was my help thru all the lean years, Mom" My Grandmother died in 1992, notice when she wrote this? I believe she wanted to send a message to her children, grandchildren , and great grandchildren before she died :)

This wedding certificate is dated 1866 and is in the original frame. It was given to me when my Grandmother Acelia died in 1992. I love the frame , one of the corners on the bottom left is missing but it still looks ok. I am very thankful to have it. It hangs in Acelia's (my daughter) room I think she will probably inherit this :)
The names on the certificate are Edwin Fenton and Acelia Carey Pitt
One of the things I like is the Spencerian writing, it is sooo beautiful!

These are my most cherished Bibles. The one on the left belonged to my Great Great Grandmother , Acelia Carey Fenton. The one on the right belonged to my Grandmother Acelia Carey Hall.

Here is another treasure I found, a letter written to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren telling them how proud she was of all them and all the work they had done. She goes on to say "Keep in touch with one another" and "help when needed" She ends by saying "My love to all of you and my little grands and great grands" She died 6 months after she wrote this letter and two days before the birth of my first baby. As a matter of fact I was across the hall from her, in labor, at our local hospital.
My Grandmother will live on in our hearts and my home. I have her things displayed everywhere!! I love them, and I loved her dearly. I named my only daughter after her:)
I hope you enjoyed my show and tell:)
Have a great day!:)

Wonderful treasures! It so so special.
How special are these Bibles. Reminds me my husband has a very very old Bible that belonged to his mother. Maybe I'll feature it in a S & T sometime.
I especially thought the personal notes were sweet.
Have a great weekend.
I loved how meaningful these things are to you! I am a soft touch for these kind of things. I would've liked to have been abl to enlarge the certificate to see the writing. When my great grandmother (Granny Lizzie) died, she was buried with the family bible. It had belonged to her grandfather and had survived a tornado in Alabama (where they were from). We honored her wishes but wrote down the information before they sealed her casket. As the family's Historian, I would LOVE to actually be able to have that Bible!

Wonderful show and tell. How great that you have the Bibles and the letters. I have my Grandpa's German Bible. Although he and my grandma spoke English, they read the Bible together every night in German.
How special to know you have such a Godly heritage! Thanks for sharing! God Bless.
Thank you for sharing...what a wonderful legacy, passed on through the generations.
My Mum doesn't know her Father and my Dad was abandoned at birth so our family begins with them really.
It must be comforting to know you are from a long line of Christians.
Love, Tina :)
That is so neat that you have something like that. Thank you for sharing :-)!
Hi Kerri! I love your show and tell today. Those are fantastic keepsakes. The wedding certificate is delightful. The Bible's are so very special and how neat to have the handwritten notes.

What fantastic family treasures!
Your treasures from your heritage are wonderful and it's great that you could have them. I have my grandmothers Bible and one from my aunt but not as old as yours. I have the researched some of the history of my parents on both sides and my Mothers ancestors came from Devonshire, England. My fathers ancestors came from Zeeland, Netherlands. I was born in Maine so I am a New Englander as well!
Ohhhh! You are so lucky to have such wonderful treasures! I have recently in the past 6 months become addicted to Ancestory.com. I love finding little treasures about my family! Great blog, I'll be back! thanks for sharing!
Wonderful story; those are real treasures!! You know, my hubby doesn't like to write in his Bible--it is well worn, but clean. But I think it is neat to beable to read people's thoughts and notes--some history ;-)
I certainly did enjoy this Show and Tell. Thank you.
