The Barn

This morning we were very busy pulling this old barn down. There is alot of pictures here. We are thankful to have it on the ground with no one hurt :)

I was amazed and saddened to see all the HAND work that went into this big barn. All of the beams were done by hand. AMAZING!!

Even the pegs that hold it together were by hand.

This is the beginning of the fall......

The old barn is finally at rest on the ground and Scott and the boys can start to tear it apart. We were saddened by it though. It must have been a great barn in its day.

Father and son talk over the plan to start tearing it apart and numbering the boards. We hope to rebuild it sometime next year if the Lord is willing.

What a big job, I'll bet it was an adventure to watch! The hand cut beams are amazing.

I love those old barns. The beams in our house are all those old, hand cut beams and are just amazing.

They built those old barns to last and if attention were paid to them, they would still be standing. Of course, once something starts to leak and it's not taken care of then it doesn't last long after that.

The house we lived in up North had that old barn beam construction in the house. It was over 100 years old. I miss it in a way.

Thanks for sharing!
