Ok, someone needs to do an intervention with me! I am seriously addicted to Jamie At Home!! I am finding myself saying things like...."Don't muck about" and "Get me a tin of tomatoes" and things like "Posh" and "Bu-i-ful darlin'" I'm tell you, I love the show!! I love the fact that he goes to his garden and can sit right down on a rock and cook a meal. Don't be surprised if you stop by and find me sitting on a rock in my garden grilling vegetables....."Come, come, don't muck about, and sit a spell, an' hav' sompin' to eat". His food is fresh and I think he has a great balance of cooked and raw foods at one meal. Do you want me to go on?? Because I could you know?
Ok onto the new baby chicks........I really won't go into describing my utter disgust at the USPS right now, because I'm in my happy spot at the moment....BUT all 50 were happy and health and are all doing fine today as well. They are the cutest things EVER!!! I can't believe we are going to can and eat them!! They are all different colors due to their breed. They aren't your run of the mill frankenfood meat bird. You know the ones that are genetically messed with so they grow at a rate of speed and devour food like you have never seen before so their legs break under all that weight kinda bird! No, these are a very calm, pretty, heritage breed that will take 5 or so months to grow. They do eat the same grain, but will eat a large diet of insects out in the fields here. They won't have lot's of meat ( average 3-5 lbs.) all over them, but we eat too much meat here in America at one sitting anyway. So, these chicks are going to serve us well. They are sharing a stall with our other layers that are now 6 weeks old. Everyone seems to be happy but the layers haven't actually seen them yet, they only cock their heads in curiosity at all the peeping!
